Hey everyone,
I wanted to share something I came across that's been weighing on my mind since the centennial ceremony in May. If you haven't heard, James Walter Johnson, a guard with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, had his name added to the Public Safety Memorial Park in Macon. It's mind-boggling to think that even after all these years, his legacy is finally being recognized.
His death was undeniably tragic, especially considering it was due to such a freak accident. A momentary slip-up with the shotgun—something that could happen to anyone—ended a life filled with potential and dedication. I can’t stop thinking about his wife and child, who had to rebuild their lives after losing him. How they must have felt getting that devastating news all those years ago.
It's reassuring to know the community still values the sacrifices made by those who serve. I'm grateful they took the time to remember someone who might have otherwise slipped through the cracks of history. If anyone was at the ceremony and wants to share what it was like, I'd love to hear about it. I hope his family knows that even after so much time, his service and sacrifice are not forgotten.
Sending love to all who've been impacted.
Stay safe, everyone.
