Guard James Walter Johnson, a 28-year-old white male, tragically died on June 16, 1908, in Bibb County, Georgia. Johnson was serving as a guard for the Bibb County Sheriff's Office and was supervising a chain gang on Houston Road, approximately 13 miles outside of Macon.
