Has anyone else been intrigued by how quickly the Gather brothers surrendered themselves after the incident? Given the high tension and potential for mob violence at the time, it almost seems like there might have been more going on behind the scenes. Maybe they feared for their safety or had some assurance from the authorities that prompted their decision to surrender so quietly. It’s just heartbreaking to think about all the fear driving decisions back then—for both the law enforcement and the suspects. Agent Clark’s family had to endure such a devastating loss while facing an uncertain justice process. I can't even imagine what his wife Winnie and their sons must have gone through, losing not just a husband and father, but someone who clearly lived a life of service. It’s a reminder of how complicated and human these historical cases are.
