It's incredibly tragic to reflect on the events that took place that day in Colquitt County. While many discussions around this case focus on the moment of the shooting itself or the brave officers involved, I find myself thinking about the aftermath and what must have been an incredibly difficult time for Tony Reed Wilder’s family, especially his wife and kids. Losing a loved one so suddenly and violently is unimaginable, and then on top of that, having to navigate life without him must have been overwhelming. I can't help but wonder how the community came together after such a devastating loss. Did they have support systems in place to help the family cope? Were there any community gatherings or vigils held in his honor? Often, we overlook what happens in the wake of such tragedies, but the aftermath is where healing begins for those left behind. My heart goes out to them and to everyone who has experienced a similar loss. Deputy Wilder’s sacrifice and the impact on his family deserve to be remembered and honored.

I came across a news clipping from 1986 and couldn't stop thinking about the impact Deputy Tony Reed Wilder's murder must have had on his children. Losing a parent is unimaginably difficult, especially under such violent circumstances. I can't help but wonder how they coped with such a traumatic event and whether they received the support they needed afterward. The sadness doesn't just end with the event; it ripples through the lives of those left behind. It would be insightful to hear from anyone who might know more about the aftermath for Wilder's family, or who can shed light on how the community supported them. Their resilience in the face of such a tragedy is truly inspirational.
