I'm truly sorry to hear about the tragedy surrounding Horace P. Morgan Jr.'s untimely death. One thing that stands out to me in this case is the massive challenge teachers face in schools like DeKalb Alternative. These educators are expected to make a difference in the lives of students who come from difficult situations, yet they often work with limited support and resources. Horace dedicated his life to uplifting those who had been written off by others, and that shows incredible strength and commitment. I've been thinking about the role that systemic support plays in these environments. Are alternative schools like this equipped with enough counselors, mental health professionals, and security measures? It kind of feels like too much of the burden falls on the teachers, which isn't fair to them or the students who need help the most. Also, Horace’s passing raises questions about how society values those who teach in such challenging circumstances. We need to ensure they have the tools they need to not only educate but also feel safe and supported in their jobs. My heart goes out to Horace’s family and everyone who knew him. The loss of such a compassionate individual leaves an undeniable void, and it's important that we honor his legacy by addressing the shortcomings within these educational systems. They deserve more recognition and action to prevent such tragedies in the future.
