Just came across the case of Ramone "Monie" Bowers, and it’s truly devastating what happened to such a young soul. What struck me about this case is the impact it must have had on his fellow students at Johnson High School. Being so young and dealing with the loss of a classmate in such a violent way surely left a deep scar on those kids, who probably just wanted to be worrying about finals and prom. It's unsettling to think about the fear and grief those students must have faced walking past the 300 block of East Duffy Street afterward. This just serves as a stark reminder of how violence ripples through an entire community, affecting even those who are just trying to go to school and live their lives. My heart goes out to all of Ramone's friends and family, and I hope they’ve found some peace in the years since.
