Has anyone else been thinking about the sentencing in the Ryan Skeen case? I can’t imagine how Ryan’s family and friends must feel after losing someone so young and vibrant. But also, Kaden Barefoot—only 13 years old—has been given such a heavy sentence. I’ve been wondering how this will affect him long-term, especially since he's still a kid.
It’s such a complex case, and there are definitely no easy answers. The fact that there were elements of drug involvement on both sides just adds another layer of tragedy to this whole situation. It makes me think a lot about what we, as communities, can do better to support our youths so they aren’t caught up in these dangerous cycles.
