I’ve been thinking a lot about the memorials held for Anthony Tarbert and Dominic Perry. It’s so moving to see the community come together to honor these young lives that were stolen far too soon. It’s a testament to how deeply loved they were by friends and family. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the images from the vigil— the sea of candles flickering against the night. It reminds me of the strength and unity within the community. But it also serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for change so that no more families have to endure this kind of grief. I truly hope for justice and healing for everyone affected.

Does anyone else feel that this case really highlights the need for more community engagement in addressing youth violence? It's been over a decade, and the pain is still felt deeply by the families and the locals who remember Anthony and Dominic. Sometimes, it takes such tragic events for us to really see how vulnerable our youth are and how systemic issues remain unaddressed. I was reading an article about how neighborhoods in West Baltimore have been organizing community watch groups and youth programs since then. It’s heartening to see people coming together to try and make a difference, but I can’t help but feel a sense of frustration that these efforts came out of such a horrible loss. I truly wish the families find peace, and that justice will eventually be served for Anthony and Dominic. They deserved so much better.
