I keep thinking about the kind of impact losing a parent in such a violent way would have on a teenager. John's son was right there during the shooting, and I can’t imagine the trauma he must be dealing with. It’s terrifying to think about the memories that will haunt him. LaGrange as a community really needs to rally around this young man and his friend who were there that night. They both survived physically, but emotional wounds like this can last a lifetime. Hopefully, the local leaders and counselors step up to make sure they’re supported through this ordeal. It’s crucial we provide a space where young people feel safe and heard after something so tragic. Wishing them strength and healing in these tough times.

I’ve been thinking about the impact this has had on the community and John's family, especially his young son who witnessed it all. It's unimaginable what trauma he must be enduring. Experiences like this can have such long-lasting effects on young people. I can't help but wonder how he and the other friend involved are coping now, more than five years later. It’s crucial that they have access to support and counseling to help process what happened. If anyone from LaGrange knows if there have been any local efforts to support victims and families through counseling services, it would be important to share. Also, if there are any community groups taking initiatives to combat local violence, it might be good for us to discuss and possibly support them. Let's hope justice comes soon and that John's family, especially his son, receives the support they need.

I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to John Westley Davis. I can't even begin to imagine what his son must be going through after witnessing such a traumatic event and then losing his dad. It’s scary that the shooter hasn't been caught yet, which must add so much anxiety for the family and community. Reading about Council Member Gaskin's response, it seems there's a real desire for change and safety improvements. I truly hope the police get the tip they need soon. It’s a reminder for all of us to stay vigilant and support each other. Has there been any mention of community meetings or initiatives since this happened?
