Has anyone else been following the case of Omarian R. Banks? It's just so tragic. I can't stop thinking about the role that "stand your ground" or perceived self-defense laws might have played in how things unfolded. From what I understand, Bynes claimed he felt threatened, but I struggle to see how it justified such an extreme response. It seems like there’s a real need to examine how these laws are applied, especially in incidents as clear-cut as this one. My heart truly goes out to Omarian’s family—losing him over a simple mistake is just unimaginable. It’s a reminder of how important it is for communities to have discussions around gun responsibility and self-defense. Did any of you catch DA Fani Willis’s comments on this? I thought they were powerful and much-needed. Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on this aspect.
