I was following the Sanquan Sims case and was really struck by the role social media played after the incident. It’s incredibly distressing to hear that his family felt compelled to move away from Augusta because of threatening posts. It's such a sad reflection on how the aftermath of violence can ripple through a community, affecting many beyond those directly involved. It feels like there needs to be a bigger conversation about how online spaces can feel just as threatening and toxic as real-life situations, especially when tensions are already high. My heart goes out to Sanquan’s family, having to deal with this immense loss and then facing additional intimidation online—it's a lot for anyone to bear. I hope they find some peace and support moving forward.

I’ve been following the Sanquan Sims case, and one aspect that really stands out to me is how Darby went into hiding for over four months before being caught by U.S. Marshals. It makes you wonder what was going through his mind during that time and how he thought he might evade capture. The pressure and fear he must have felt—especially knowing what he’d done—must have been immense. I can’t even begin to imagine how traumatizing this must be for Sanquan’s family, not only having lost him but also facing threats that forced them to uproot their lives. It serves as a somber reminder of how rippling the effects of such violence are, touching all those involved and their wider community. ?️
