Has anyone else been following the legal proceedings in the case of Shatavon "Chip Deezy" Hayes? I find it really interesting that Percy Graham, one of the suspects, was also charged with tampering with evidence. It makes me wonder what kind of evidence they might have tried to hide. It goes to show the extent some people might go to in order to cover their tracks. It’s really sad to think about how much pain Hayes’ family and friends must be going through. Octavious Spencer describing him as such a kind spirit says a lot about who Hayes was as a person. It's just infuriating to think how these violent actions rip people away from their loved ones. I hope they truly get the justice they deserve and that this case brings more awareness to the violence plaguing Albany. The community deserves better, and so did Chip Deezy.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how the community came together in the wake of Shatavon “Chip Deezy” Hayes’ death. It’s truly a testament to how deeply he was loved and the kind of person he was. The way his friend Octavious Spencer spoke about him really resonated with me. It’s incredible how the community rallied not only to mourn his loss but also to call for change in Albany. It feels like we often hear about these tragedies without seeing any action, but this time, there seems to be a real push to address the violence that took such an important life away from us all. Has anyone else noticed any initiatives or movements sparked by this tragedy in your neighborhoods? I think keeping the conversation going and supporting any local efforts for change could be a meaningful way to honor Shatavon’s memory. Let’s not let his death be in vain.
