I've been thinking a lot about how the lack of witnesses or unwillingness to come forward in cases like Sherron Dwain Small’s can really hamper investigations. It's particularly troubling in communities where trust in law enforcement is low, and residents fear retaliation. In Sherron's case, the 1300 block of Aisquith Street was probably swarming with activity due to the nature of that neighborhood, yet it sounds like there were few, if any, willing to speak out.
His loved ones deserve justice, but it’s a vicious cycle when people stay silent and these crimes stay unsolved. It's maddening to think how many answers might be out there, just waiting to be shared, yet the fear overshadows the need for resolution.
Does anyone know if there were any community initiatives or attempts to improve police-community relations in Baltimore after 2012? Wondering if efforts have been made to address these issues to help solve cases like Sherron's.
