I can't stop thinking about the kind of person Ruben was and how much he meant to those who knew him. It’s baffling how a young life can be taken away so suddenly with no warning. Ruben was only 18—just stepping into adulthood with a world of possibilities ahead of him. His family and friends have had to endure the unimaginable pain of losing him in such a violent manner. It seems unfathomable that it took years to even get close to any sort of resolution in this case. I can't imagine how important it must have been for his family to hear about the arrest of Rodriguez; it’s a step towards justice, though it won't bring Ruben back. It’s a reminder of how persistent effort and cross-border collaboration can achieve results, but it also highlights how much work still needs to be done in communities affected by such violence. I hope the community can find some peace as this case moves forward and that Ruben’s memory remains a beacon for change and healing.
