I’ve been following Jay Hegeman’s disappearance, and something that really puzzles me is the location where his boat was found. Matanzas, Cuba, is quite a distance from Islamorada. I’m curious about the currents and how they could have affected the drift of the boat. Does anyone have insights into how long it might take for a boat to travel that distance if it was adrift?
Also, considering the extensive search by the Coast Guard, it seems odd that there haven’t been any sightings or evidence leading to his whereabouts. I wonder if weather conditions around that time could have played a significant role. Perhaps anyone local can recall if there were strong winds or storms that week? It just feels like there’s a piece of the puzzle missing. What are everyone’s thoughts on this?
