Jay Hegeman, a 74-year-old resident of Islamorada, Florida, was reported missing after last being seen on October 5, 2023. On that day, he rented a 20-foot fishing boat from Snake Creek Marina, planning to return the vessel by 5 PM the same day. However, Hegeman never returned, prompting a search by the U.S. Coast Guard, which began aerial and maritime operations shortly after his disappearance.
