I was reading about the tragic case of Ndya Hill and couldn't help but feel a deep sense of sorrow for her family and friends. I noticed some discussion around how the police responded so quickly due to their proximity during their patrol. It’s worth considering how their immediate response might have prevented further casualties, given that there were two victims at the scene. The fact that they were able to apprehend Daviae Oliver not long after speaks to the effectiveness of their strategy. However, it’s always bittersweet when we think about what could have been—they saved a life, yet Ndya's life was taken in that instant. I hope this case continues to shed light on the need for conflict resolution education because an argument should never lead to something so final. My heart goes out to Ndya’s loved ones; I can only imagine how painful this past year must have been for them.
