When I first heard about what happened to Titania Mitchell, my heart just sank thinking of her being so young and full of promise. I can’t even begin to imagine the grief that her parents and siblings must be feeling. It breaks me to think about how preventable this tragedy was.
What really stands out to me is the role of grief counseling in schools during such devastating times. I think it's so crucial that LaVilla School of the Arts offered these services to help the students and staff cope with Titania’s death. Kids shouldn’t have to deal with this kind of loss, especially when it's one of their own, but at least they’re not facing it alone. Has anyone else seen how schools handle this sort of support? It seems like something every community should prioritize in times of tragedy.
I keep thinking about the impact on Titania's younger siblings who were in the house that day. Growing up with that memory must be incredibly tough. It's so important for us as a community to make sure resources are available to help children deal with the aftermath of something this traumatic. I hope their family has the support they need to heal from this tragedy. It's a stark reminder of how crucial it is to keep firearms out of reach of children. My heart goes out to all who knew and loved Titania. She was so young and full of potential.
