Margit Lillian Prichard, a 76-year-old woman, was last seen at her home on the 1300 block of Pepperwood Springs Road in Piercy, California, on May 18, 2018. Her husband reported seeing her in their garden at approximately 1:00 p.m. When he discovered she was missing around 4:30 p.m., he conducted a search of their property and nearby areas with the help of neighbors before contacting the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office. Prichard was reportedly experiencing dementia-related issues. She was physically fit and capable of walking long distances, having gone missing three months prior and traveled seven miles on foot before being found. When she disappeared, Prichard was wearing blue capri pants and a purple T-shirt, and she did not take her phone or purse with her.
An extensive search and rescue operation was launched immediately following her disappearance. The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office, along with a bloodhound, began searching on the evening of May 18. Over the following days, the search expanded to include more than 70 personnel from various agencies, including the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, California Highway Patrol, CalFire, and multiple county search and rescue teams. Despite the large-scale efforts, which included searching 10 miles of the nearby river twice, no trace of Prichard was found. Authorities issued a "silver warning" for Northern California, as it was believed she might attempt to travel to Bethel Island or the East Bay Area, where she had previously lived.
Prichard is described as a white female, 5'5" tall, weighing approximately 106-110 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes. Her sister-in-law described her as a brilliant and kind-hearted woman who had been a computer analyst in the early days of the industry, held a Master's degree, and was an avid sailor. As of today, Margit Lillian Prichard's case remains unsolved, and she has not been heard from since the day she went missing.
