I recently came across the tragic case of Kenson Pierre, known to many as "Short Kidd." My heart goes out to his family and to the family of Justin McAdam. In reading about the events on that June night, it struck me how quickly life can change in an instant. Kenson was not just a rising star in his community, but also a son, brother, and friend. It's so hard to comprehend how a conversation about their upcoming project could end in such a senseless way.
I noticed that Beetoo Pierre was arrested thanks to tips from local community members. I think this really highlights how crucial it is for communities to come together and support each other during such devastating times. It’s a painful reminder of how gun violence ripples through neighborhoods, affecting lives and futures in so many ways. It’s scary to think that the suspect was only 17, a teenager himself.
Does anyone know if there were any outreach programs or community efforts started in Kenson and Justin's memory to address gun violence or support young artists? It seems like honoring their passions could be a powerful way to remember them.
I can't stop thinking about how talented Kenson was. It's such a loss for the world that we’ll never get to see the potential he was undoubtedly about to live up to. "Short Kidd" had a real gift for storytelling in his lyrics, and it's so disheartening that his voice was silenced too soon. He had just started working on that new video project with Justin, who was a friend and clearly believed in his talent, helping to bring Kenson's music to a wider audience. It must be incredibly difficult for Kenson's family to have been so close when it happened, just inside the house, and to have lost such a bright light in their lives. I hope they find strength and support in the memories of his music and the love he shared with his community.
