I was reading about Daniel Ortiz's case, and I can't stop thinking about his family. It must have been overwhelming when they got the call that day. Losing someone so suddenly and violently is unimaginable. I kept wondering how they're coping now, years after his passing. The sentencing and conviction of Clarkson may have provided some justice, but I hope it also offered a sense of peace for his loved ones. One aspect of this tragedy that stands out is the tireless efforts of the Sarasota Police Department and others who worked so hard in achieving that conviction. Their determination helped ensure that justice was served, but I always wish it didn't have to come to that—losing a person like this. My heart goes out to all who knew and loved Daniel, hoping they have found some semblance of solace over time.
