Did anyone else read about Eric Ivan Ortiz-Rivera’s story and just feel a deep sense of loss for all the potentials and dreams that night shattered? ? I’ve come across several stories about him being a talented merchandise manager who moved from Puerto Rico to fulfill his ambitions. It's so poignant thinking about how he wasn’t even a regular at nightclubs but chose to join his friends for what was supposed to be a fun night out. Eric left behind a loving spouse and so many dreams unfulfilled. It’s haunting to think how random it all was—it could have been anyone’s loved one. The strength of his family and friends as they continue to honor him is truly inspiring. I hope the ongoing lawsuits bring some semblance of justice and lead to changes that prevent such senseless violence in the future. We need to keep these conversations going, not just for Eric, but for everyone affected by acts of hate and terror.
