I was reading about Cory James Connell and found myself incredibly moved by his bravery. It’s so inspiring to see such selflessness amidst such a terrifying situation. His actions that night at Pulse saved the life of his girlfriend, Paula Andrea Blanco, which speaks volumes about his character. It’s hard to fathom the depth of such a sacrifice. I also learned that Cory wanted to be a firefighter. It’s just so fitting because he already had the heart of a hero. Being honored as an honorary firefighter posthumously is such a beautiful and deserved tribute to his courageous act. My thoughts go out to his family and friends; I can’t even imagine the loss they must feel. It's a reminder of the good in people even during the darkest times.
