Franklin Francois, a 25-year-old man from Naples, Florida, was shot and killed early on November 5, 2017, near Sixth Avenue North and 11th Street North. He suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was taken to NCH Baker Hospital Downtown, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The shooting happened in a relatively quiet neighborhood and left witnesses and residents shaken.
Witnesses reported seeing two men walking along the street before the gunfire. Rubens Casseus, a local business owner, heard the shots while on the phone with his wife, called police, and tried to render aid by applying pressure to the wound and performing CPR. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Naples Police Department with a helicopter and K-9 units; a man matching the description of people seen fleeing was detained and arrested on a cannabis possession suspicion but has not been tied to the homicide. Detectives continue to seek tips, and a reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
Does anyone have information about that early-morning shooting or the two men seen walking in the area?
