I've been thinking a lot about how Yingying Zhang’s case highlights some serious security gaps for international students. It's crazy to think about how vulnerable they are when they first arrive in a new country. Yingying had only been in the U.S. for a couple of months and probably didn't know the area well. There should be more resources or systems in place to help international students navigate their new environment safely. The university community should really be more involved in offering guidance or escorts when needed. For anyone else who’s been in a similar situation, how did you manage those first few months of adjusting to a new country and staying safe?
