Yingying Zhang, a 26-year-old visiting scholar from China, went missing on June 9, 2017, in Urbana, Illinois. She had arrived in the U.S. in April 2017 to conduct research at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. On the day of her disappearance, Yingying was on her way to sign a lease for an apartment but never arrived.
