I've been thinking a lot about the community that Sawson Owens was a part of. It's clear that his loss has left a significant void, not just with his family and friends but across the entire neighborhood. I grew up in a similar area, and I know how tight-knit these places can be. The fact that shootings like this happen, taking away young lives who could have had such a bright future, is tough to accept.
I can’t imagine the mix of emotions that those who knew Sawson are feeling—anger, sadness, confusion. As we wait for justice to take its course, it's so important for us as a community to rally together and support each other. Sharing any helpful information with authorities could be our collective way of honoring Sawson's memory and showing that we won't let violence tear our community apart.
Let’s remain hopeful that the authorities can find Jakorey Shivers soon, and with that, maybe there can be a small sense of peace or closure for Sawson's loved ones.
