Colby Wilcher, 27, of Holt, Florida, was found dead on April 11, 2022, in the Shoal River near Dorcas, Florida. Fishermen discovered his body in a wooded area along the river south of the Shoal River Bridge off Okaloosa County Road 393. He had been reported missing by a family member on January 26, 2022, and his last known Facebook activity was recorded on February 9, 2022.

An Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office investigation followed; an autopsy determined Wilcher died from a single gunshot wound, and the death was labeled suspicious. No arrests or public suspect identifications have been announced. His former partner, Alexis Grice, said the couple had three children under the age of five and described the family’s devastation. A GoFundMe was set up to support the children.
