I recently came across the McGlincy family murders, and it's been deeply unsettling to read about such a brutal event. One aspect that struck me was how the killings seemed to have shattered a sense of safety in Campbell at that time. Imagine living in a small town where everyone probably knew each other, and then something so gruesome happens. Locals must have been absolutely terrified, not knowing if Dunham could strike again. I can't help but think about the emotional aftermath that Hattie’s and James’s surviving family members, especially the infant son, had to endure. Growing up without knowing your parents and under the shadow of such a tragedy must have been incredibly heavy. It's tragic how entire families were annihilated, yet there's still no closure because Dunham was never found. Anyone else absorbed by the unanswered questions surrounding his escape and disappearance?

I’ve been thinking about the tiny baby who survived that sad night – the son of James C. Dunham and Hattie Wells Dunham. Growing up with the weight of such a tragic family history must have been overwhelming. The children who were left behind in these tragedies often bear silent burdens, with their entire origin story intertwined with loss and unanswered questions. I can't help but wonder about how his life turned out. Did he ever struggle with the knowledge of what his father did, or was it something the family tried to keep in the background? These historical cases leave so many gaps, especially about the lives of those who lingered, their stories often untold. Anyone else interested in what might have become of this child and how his life was shaped by such an unimaginable start?
