On the night of May 26, 1896, a horrific mass murder took place in Campbell, California, resulting in the death of James K. Wells, aged 22, along with five other individuals. The perpetrator, James C. Dunham, used an axe and firearms to carry out the brutal killings. The victims included Dunham's wife, Hattie Wells Dunham; her mother, Ada McGlincy; her stepfather, Colonel Richard P. McGlincy; James K.
