I've been thinking a lot about Jevie D. Thompson and his family lately. It's truly devastating to imagine the sheer chaos and terror they faced on that day. Reading about how Bonner's rampage extended to their home is just gut-wrenching. It's hard not to empathize with the horror and grief that Eddie Mae and Alfred must have endured—losing a spouse and father like Jevie in such a senseless act of violence. I can't even begin to fathom how they found the strength to carry on after such a critical injury and loss. Does anyone know if the community ever did anything to honor Jevie and the other victims? Sometimes in the aftermath, people come together to support the grieving families with vigils or memorials, and it would be comforting to know that Jevie's life and those lost alongside him were commemorated in some way. If anyone has more information on what the local response was or if there were any efforts to support the Thompson family, I'd be really interested to hear it.
