I’ve been following the Lachrica Denise Jefferson case closely and something that really struck me was the role of DNA evidence in unraveling everything. It’s so tragic that it took years and the advancements in forensic technology to finally link Lonnie Franklin Jr. to these horrific crimes. I can only imagine the frustration and pain that Lachrica's family must have felt during all those years of uncertainty. Also, it’s hard not to be frustrated thinking about how different things could have been if these communities had more resources and attention from law enforcement back then. It’s infuriating to think that systemic neglect may have played a role in allowing this nightmare to persist over decades. The pain for the victims' families is unimaginable. So thankful that justice eventually came, but what a long and painful road it must have been for those who loved Lachrica.
