Has anyone else been following the recent plea deal in the Payton Beroit case? I'm honestly trying to wrap my head around how someone like Cleamon "Big Evil" Johnson, with such a violent past, ends up with a plea deal that potentially allows him parole. I can’t even begin to comprehend what Payton’s family must be feeling after all these years. This case has been through so many twists and turns, but it’s still hard to find any closure. The aspect that's been bugging me the most is the role of the LAPD detective and the allegations of racial bias. That really makes you question how many other cases might have been tainted because of similar issues. When new evidence or information surfaces, it can completely change the trajectory of a case, and it's critical for justice to be served fairly. I can't help but think of Payton and his friend Donald Ray Loggins, who were caught up in such a terrible time in LA's history. They deserve justice, and their families deserve some semblance of peace. Does anyone have thoughts on the implications of this plea deal?

Has anyone else been following the weird developments in the Payton Beroit case over the years? I just read about Cleamon "Big Evil" Johnson's no contest plea in 2023, and I am absolutely floored. After everything that happened—the reversals, the retrials, the racial bias allegations—it feels like justice took a winding road here. I can't even imagine what Beroit's family has been going through all this time. To endure the pain of losing someone you love to such senseless violence and then have to watch the legal system go back and forth must be exhausting beyond belief. How does one even begin to process this outcome after so many years? It’s a stark reminder of how complex and drawn-out the fight for justice can be, especially in cases tangled with systemic issues.
