I've been looking into the case of Elizabeth Bartholomew, who went missing in 1991. One detail that's been on my mind is the location—Sierra National Forest is vast and rugged! Given her Alzheimer's, I wonder if she could have wandered towards one of the trails or deeper into the forest areas. Has anyone from around Midpines noticed anything strange over the years, particularly near Carstens or Plumbar Road? I'm not suggesting anything definitive, just thinking about how vast and unforgiving that terrain can be if someone who's disoriented and not equipped for extended outdoor activity inadvertently ventures in. Would love to hear any locals' insights into that area, especially how it was in the early '90s compared to now.
Has anyone considered the possibility of animal involvement in Elizabeth Bartholomew's disappearance? I know that area around Midpines is quite remote and that predators like bears or mountain lions could be present. While it's not pleasant to think about, I'm just trying to cover all angles, especially considering her vulnerability due to Alzheimer's. There might not have been evidence found during the initial searches, but maybe due to the vast and rugged terrain, it could’ve been missed. I understand it's been a long time, but perhaps looking for signs or remains beyond the initial search perimeter might yield something new. Thoughts on whether this is plausible or if anyone knows of similar cases in the area?
