It's been puzzling me for a while how Thomas Jacoby's story connects to his interest in nature. The loon calls he mentioned from his Portland letter – I wonder if that was a significant part of why he traveled so far north. It seems like a pretty dramatic move just to hear the birds, but it might have been an indicator of his mental state or a desire to escape into nature. Considering his car was found so close to areas abundant with wildlife and hiking trails, do you think he was planning to immerse himself in that environment? Maybe he felt solace there.
Also, Millinocket Lake isn't all that far from Baxter State Park, a known entrance to the Appalachian Trail. It almost seems like he had a plan but got sidetracked or overwhelmed. Living off the grid can be a big draw for some struggling with inner turmoil. But without any confirmed sightings or clues, it's all just speculation. What do you all think? Could his fascination with nature be a piece of the puzzle, or is it simply a coincidence?
