Has anyone else been following the legal aftermath of the Mark Adams case? I've been thinking about the impact on the prison culture itself. During the trial, hearing that Reynolds allegedly bragged about the shooting was really unnerving. It makes me wonder about the environment at San Quentin and other prisons at the time. If some officers felt emboldened or justified in using lethal force, what does that say about the culture within the system back then? It's hard not to feel for Adams' family. Getting through this trial and hearing such troubling testimonies must have been incredibly difficult. While the financial settlement can't make up for their loss, I hope it brought some sense of justice for them and maybe helped push for change. The case did spark a policy reevaluation, but I keep thinking about how ingrained this mentality might have been among officers. Are current measures truly addressing these deep-rooted issues, or is there still more work to be done? Would love to hear others' thoughts on this.
