I was reading through some old articles about the tragic events in Inskip, and something really stuck with me—the bravery and sheer dedication of Deputy Hunter and Lieutenant Estes. It's one thing to read about instances where officers have to make life-and-death decisions, quite another to realize how close they were to Richard Bracklow during those awful final moments. Imagine the courage it took to step into that dimly lit cabin knowing it could be dangerous, but still doing it to protect others. What really hit home was how Lieutenant Estes managed to return fire, even after being struck multiple times. That's incredible resolve and speaks volumes about his training and commitment to his partner and community. I can't help but think about how these situations must affect the loved ones left behind, hearing about the sacrifices their family members made when they put on that uniform each day. My heart goes out to every single person touched by this tragedy. Hunter and Estes are true heroes whose stories deserve to be remembered. They remind us of the dangers our officers face every day and the strength required to stand up in their line of duty.
