I can’t stop thinking about how vulnerable we all are in those unexpected moments, like what happened to Philip Lacy. You’re out enjoying a night with friends, and in a blink, you're faced with something you never imagined. I didn’t know Philip, but it’s clear from what his friends and family say that he was someone who brought joy into the lives of those around him. My heart goes out to everyone who knew him. It’s unsettling to hear conflicting stories in the courtroom, and I often wonder how Philip’s family and friends sat through that, hearing different versions of what happened that night. Their strength during the trial must have been extraordinary. Hoping for more awareness about such senseless acts of violence, we all deserve to feel safe in our communities. Life can change so quickly, and it's important to cherish those we love every day.
