Hi everyone, I've been thinking a lot about the emotional toll that these kinds of incidents have on the families left behind. Sergeant Romans, Sergeant Sakai, and Officer Dunakin all gave their lives in service, and it’s hard to imagine the grief their families must have faced then and still grapple with today. It's important for us as a community to not only remember the fallen officers but also to support their families in tangible ways. One thing that a lot of people don’t consider is how significant memorials, like the renaming of the Keller Avenue Bridge, can be for the families. It’s not just a sign or a plaque—it represents recognition of their sacrifice and offers a form of enduring legacy. It’s a way for the community to show that these officers are not forgotten and that their bravery is honored. These kinds of tributes can't bring them back, but they can help mend and remind us all of the bravery and selflessness that these officers exemplified. If anyone knows of any community activities, fundraisers, or memorial events in honor of these heroes, it would be great to share here. Supporting one another is so crucial during times like these. Stay safe, everyone.
