I recently read about the Charles Hamilton case, and one detail just haunts me. It’s the thought of him coming home from a peaceful dinner with his family, completely unaware of the danger lurking inside his own house. The idea that he was just trying to secure his door and probably protect his home and loved ones is so gut-wrenching to me. I can’t imagine the terrifying moment when he realized what was happening. For a person known to be so well-loved and respected in his community, it’s unimaginable that his life was ended in such a violent, senseless act. My heart really goes out to his family and neighbors, who must be struggling with such a deep loss. Hoping the authorities can find some answers and justice for the Hamilton family, and that this sparks more conversations about tackling the violence impacting Baltimore communities. No one should have to fear for their life in their own home.
