I've been thinking a lot about the welfare check that led to the discovery of Mary Matsumoto's tragic death. It's truly saddening that it got to the point where her daughter felt compelled to call for help. This part of the case really speaks volumes about how isolated situations can become within a family, even when there may be warning signs. Her daughter must have been feeling so many emotions—fear for her mother, dread about what she might find, and then the unimaginable heartbreak when the truth came out. I can't even begin to understand how difficult it must have been for her, dealing with the aftermath and the wait for justice during the trial. I hope that Mary's family finds some measure of peace and healing after such a profound and personal tragedy.
