I’ve been thinking a lot about the message scrawled on the floor at the Rabbi home, especially the part that said, "I can't be like you, telling a lie. I can't love someone without telling them." It’s so unsettling to think about what must have been going through the mind of the person who wrote it. It sounds like such a deep-seated emotional conflict. Maybe it reflects some kind of intense internal struggle or a final desperate effort to justify what had been done.
I can’t imagine the pain and confusion that Shamima and Golam’s family must be feeling, having to grapple with the idea that their loved ones’ lives ended so violently, and allegedly by the hands of their own children. For those left behind, it must be so difficult to make sense of how things reached this tragic point.
My thoughts are with them and the wider community who have been affected by this. It’s a reminder that sometimes people are struggling in ways we might not see. We need to foster environments where everyone feels able to speak openly and truthfully about who they are, without fear of rejection or judgment.
