I’ve been thinking a lot about the community’s response to Mariana Teresa Resendiz’s tragic death. It’s truly upsetting how gun violence continues to affect neighborhoods, and yet, sometimes it feels like these cases just stall. I’ve read about local leaders asking for more community cooperation with the LAPD. It makes me wonder: is there a disconnect between the community and the police that’s slowing things down? How can trust be built to encourage more people to come forward with information? Mariana’s family deserves answers, and it’s painful knowing they’re enduring this uncertainty. What do you all think could be done to enhance communication and trust between the community and law enforcement to help solve cases like Mariana’s? Anyone here from the area or have insight into local efforts? Every bit of information helps.
