Has anyone else been thinking about the role of survival psychology in the tragic outcome of Rachel Nguyen and Joseph Orbeso's case? It seems like such a crucial factor that might have played into their desperate situation. I'm no expert, but I've read that when people are lost and facing extreme conditions like in the desert, it can lead to panic and distorted thinking. In Rachel and Joseph's case, the idea that they were trying so hard to preserve their food and stay protected from the sun says a lot about their fight to survive.
It's gut-wrenching to imagine the psychological toll this must have taken on them during those weeks. The fact that Rachel’s family held no ill will towards Joseph really speaks to their understanding of the harrowing situation. It also raises questions about how much we truly understand other people's actions in moments of survival. It’s a somber reminder of the unpredictability of human behavior under extreme stress. My heart goes out to both their families as they continue to come to terms with such an unimaginable loss.
