I was thinking today about how the location of the shooting might have played a role in this tragic event. That Jack in the Box is in such a busy area, and yet, it seems like things happened so quickly that night. It’s distressing to think about how Jeremiah and Eli might have felt in their final moments, trying to protect one another. I’ve driven by that intersection many times, and it’s hard to wrap my head around how, in a place so familiar and public, something so horrible could happen. It's a reminder of how quickly things can change. I hope this serves as a wake-up call for the community to come together and create safer spaces, where our youth can live without fear of violence. My heart goes out to their family and everyone affected—they’ve endured unbearable loss. Remembering "Lil JJ" and Eli should motivate us all to strive for change and ensure their deaths were not in vain.

I just can't stop thinking about the ripple effects that this tragedy must have had on the students and faculty at Canyon Springs High School. Losing not one but two alumni who were well-known and loved by their peers must have been incredibly tough on everyone. I imagine the football team and friends who shared the field with Jeremiah and Elijah must feel an immense void. It's heartwarming to see how the community rallied around the Ascencio family during such a devastating time, organizing memorials and vigils to honor their lives. I hope the continued support gives the family some comfort, knowing that Jeremiah and Eli left such a profound impact on those who knew them. It's a testament to their character and the love they inspired in others. To everyone who's been affected, stay strong and support each other. The community's resilience is its greatest strength. Let's hope justice is served, and we can find ways to prevent such senseless violence in the future.

I recently came across this case again, and I can't stop thinking about the impact this must have had on Jeremiah and Elijah Ascencio's family, especially given that they were so young and full of potential. They were known for their talent on the football field at Canyon Springs High School, which must have been a huge loss for their teammates and coaches as well. It's hard to imagine how the team moved forward without them. Has anyone heard if the school or community has done anything in their memory, like a scholarship or an annual event? I feel like keeping their passions alive could help the community heal, but I hope their friends and family know that we're still thinking about them and sending our support. ?
