I was reading about the tragic incident involving Genoveva Rivera Robles and wanted to share something that struck me. It's baffling and incredibly distressing to consider how an innocent evening in your own home can end up in such a shocking and tragic way. The fact that Genoveva had lived on East 10th Street for over three decades makes it even more unsettling. I've been thinking a lot about how the community must be feeling right now. Not only do they have to cope with the loss of a beloved neighbor, mother, and grandmother, but they also have to deal with the fear and uncertainty knowing that the suspects are still out there. It highlights the senseless nature of gun violence and how it can rip through the fabric of a community in mere seconds. For her family, like her niece Jenny, and everyone else who loved her, I can only imagine the depths of pain and frustration they must feel. They've lost someone irreplaceable and so desperately seek answers and justice. It's such a reminder of the importance of coming together as a community to support one another and encourage anyone with information to step forward. Let's hope LBPD makes progress soon so that Genoveva's family can find some form of peace.
