Edwin Eddie Phillips, 67, was shot the night of August 17, 2016, in Redding, California. Officers found Phillips with multiple gunshot wounds near 3032 Bechelli Lane around 11:16 p.m.; he was taken to a hospital and later died. The scene was behind several businesses, including a motorcycle repair shop Phillips frequented, and nearby employees remembered him as a friendly, watchful presence who often looked out for local workers.
Investigators recovered surveillance footage that shows Phillips entering his shop with another individual shortly before the shooting. Authorities described the suspect as a large man wearing long shorts and possibly a tank top and offered a $5,000 reward, but no arrests had been announced. Anyone who saw activity near Bechelli Lane that night or who recognizes the person in the footage is asked to come forward with information.
