Hey everyone, I've been reading a lot about the tragic case of James Powell and I can't get one aspect out of my head. It’s truly unsettling to think about all the students who witnessed the incident that day. These were kids who were just going about their summer school routine, and suddenly, they were thrown into this life-altering situation. I can't imagine the trauma they must have experienced seeing their friend get shot right in front of them. I wonder how many of these students were seriously affected, emotionally and psychologically, by what they witnessed. Has anyone come across information about support they might have received? Considering it was 1964, mental health resources weren't nearly as available or destigmatized as they are today. It's really disheartening to think that these students had to carry such a heavy burden at such a young age without proper support. I just hope that wherever life took them after that horrible day, they found some peace or healing from that traumatic experience. My thoughts go out to them and James's family. It’s a reminder of how deeply incidents like these can impact not just immediate families but entire communities, especially young, impressionable lives. Would love to know if anyone has more information or insights into this aspect of the case. Stay safe, everyone.
