I've been diving into the twists and turns of the John Aratico case, and something that's been really bothering me is Detective Scarcella's massive conflict of interest. I mean, how does a detective even get assigned to investigate a case with clear ties to his own family? This is beyond troubling. It feels like the investigation was set up to fail from the very start, which makes me wonder how many other cases might have been derailed in a similar fashion. To think that a young man lost his life, and due to twisted loyalties or whatever was going on behind the scenes, no justice has been served—it’s just devastating. My heart goes out to John's loved ones; I can't even imagine how hard it must be for them, knowing that those who were supposed to uphold justice might have been the very ones obstructing it. It really makes you question the integrity of certain individuals entrusted with such critical responsibilities. Sadly, it seems like John's story is one of many that highlight some really deep-rooted issues.
