I still can't wrap my head around the sheer brutality of the Queens massacre. Carla Lopez and the others had their whole lives ahead of them, just ripped away in such a violent and senseless manner. It's deeply troubling to think that something as trivial as a debt could lead to such a horrific outcome. I'm particularly moved by the bravery of the survivor who played dead to stay alive. The courage it must have taken for her to later come forward and testify is remarkable. I hope she's found some sort of peace and support to help her through the unimaginable trauma she's endured. As for the perpetrators, life without parole seems like the least they deserve for taking so much from so many families. Has anyone heard any news about Richard Isasi’s extradition? I really hope justice is served for everyone hurt by this tragedy.
I’ve been reading about the tragic case of Carla Lopez and the other victims in Queens, and I can't stop thinking about the sheer terror they must have experienced. What really strikes me is the strength and bravery of the seventh victim who survived. I can't even begin to imagine the courage it took for her to pretend to be dead and then eventually step forward to help the authorities with such critical information. Her actions not only helped bring the assailants to justice but also paid tribute to the memory of those who were lost. It’s stories like these that remind us of both the darkest and the most resilient aspects of humanity. I'm grateful for her courage and hope she has found some peace and support in the years since. My thoughts are with all the families who lost loved ones that night.

Imagine the sheer terror of that night and finding the strength to feign death to later help bring justice.
